Game Introduction
Starblast.io is a multiplayer arcade space shooter developed by Neuronality. Pilot a small spaceship through a procedurally generated asteroid field, mine valuable gems, improve your ship’s statistics, and fight other pilots for control of the arena.
Every match combines resource gathering with fast space combat. You can stay away from danger and concentrate on mining, join teammates to strengthen a space station, or hunt exposed opponents and steal the gems they drop.
Collecting enough resources lets you improve shields, energy, damage, speed, and other attributes. Once your current ship is sufficiently developed, you can evolve along a branching ship tree and choose a vessel with different weapons, movement, and tactical strengths.

What Is Starblast.io?
Starblast.io is a top-down multiplayer space battle game built around mining, ship development, and combat. Players begin with a basic spacecraft and shoot asteroids to release gems. These resources can be collected, stored, and invested in upgrades.
The game rewards different playstyles. Careful pilots can mine until they have a stronger ship, aggressive players can attack miners and steal their cargo, while supportive players can help teammates and contribute resources to their base.
Starblast was created and published by Neuronality. Development began in 2016, with its complete Steam release arriving on November 8, 2017. Neuronality describes it as an online multiplayer arcade space shooter featuring asteroid mining, ship upgrades, combat, and procedural arenas. Neuronality’s official Starblast page
The official ship tree contains seven tiers and 31 core spaceship models. Each branch offers different laser arrangements, statistics, movement characteristics, and potential team roles.
How to Play Starblast.io
Choose an available mode and enter the star system. Use your weapons to break nearby asteroids, then fly over the released gems to collect them.
Open the upgrade panel and invest your cargo in the statistics that match your intended role. Shields and regeneration improve survivability, while weapon upgrades make mining and combat more efficient. Speed and agility help you escape dangerous encounters.
When your ship becomes eligible for evolution, study the available branches before selecting one. A larger ship is not automatically better for every situation. Heavy vessels may have stronger shields and weapons but can be slower and easier to surround.
In Team Mode, return to your faction’s station and donate gems. Upgrading the base unlocks higher ship tiers for the team and improves its ability to survive attacks. The match ends when one faction destroys the competing stations and remains in control.
Spaceships, Upgrades, and Weapons
Starblast.io has a branching progression system with seven ship tiers and 31 core vessels. You do not follow one fixed upgrade path; at several stages, you choose between ships with different strengths.
Ship attributes include:
- Shield capacity
- Shield regeneration
- Energy capacity
- Energy regeneration
- Weapon damage
- Weapon projectile speed
- Ship speed
- Agility and handling characteristics
- Cargo capacity, depending on the ship
Small fighters are generally agile and useful for scouting or intercepting enemies. Mining ships may carry more gems but require protection. Heavy combat vessels provide greater firepower and durability at the cost of responsiveness.
The game also includes secondary weapons and special powers. Depending on the mode and availability, these can support offensive attacks, defensive positioning, mining, or team assistance.
Cosmetic options include different ship materials, laser styles, and badges. These visual choices allow personalization without replacing the importance of ship selection and piloting skill.

Game Modes and Gameplay
Team Mode
Players join one of three factions, each with its own space station. Mine gems and donate them to upgrade the station, unlock higher ship tiers, and strengthen your team.
Team members can take on different responsibilities. Miners gather resources, escorts protect valuable cargo ships, defenders guard the station, and attackers target rival mining operations or enemy bases.
Survival Mode
Mine asteroids, improve your ship, and fight to remain alive. Resource management is essential because encounters become increasingly dangerous as surviving pilots reach higher tiers.
Invasion Mode
Work with other players against waves of hostile enemies. Survival, positioning, and cooperation become more important as the opposition grows stronger.
Pro Deathmatch
Choose between the offered ships and hunt assigned targets. The first player to reach 12 points wins the round. Eliminating a designated target is more valuable than destroying an unrelated opponent.
Custom Games
Starblast supports configurable matches with options covering map size, asteroid patterns, crystal value, ship speed, starting vessels, teams, and station properties. Custom games can be used for private sessions or public community events.
Mode availability and rules can change between the browser demo, Steam edition, community events, and current server rotation.
Tips and Strategies
Mine smaller asteroids early because they are usually faster and safer to break with a basic ship. Avoid challenging well-developed opponents before upgrading your shields and weapons.
Do not spend every gem on one attribute. A ship with powerful weapons but weak energy regeneration may struggle to maintain fire, while speed without shields leaves little room for mistakes.
Watch the radar before entering a dense asteroid field. Enemy pilots often target distracted miners carrying valuable cargo.
In Team Mode, balance personal upgrades with base donations. Saving every gem for yourself can delay higher-tier ships for the entire faction.
Avoid flying directly back to your station while being followed. A pursuing enemy may use you to locate vulnerable miners or launch an attack against the base.
Choose ship evolutions based on the team’s needs. A squad filled entirely with slow heavy ships may lack scouting, interception, and escort capabilities.

Tips and Tricks
Pro Tip
Watch your opponent’s energy use. A ship that has just fired continuously may be temporarily unable to maintain pressure, creating an opportunity to attack or escape.
Common Mistake
Do not automatically evolve as soon as a new ship appears. Improve the current vessel appropriately and check whether the next branch fits your preferred role.
Strategy Tip
In Team Mode, mine near allies and return gems regularly. Carrying a full load for too long makes you an attractive target and risks losing resources your station needs.
Developer Insight
From the Lalo.games editorial team: Starblast.io is strongest when mining and combat are treated as one connected decision. Every gem presents a choice between immediate personal power, a different ship path, or long-term team progress. Skilled pilots win by recognizing which investment matters most at that moment.
