Crouching reduces the noise produced by movement. Walk normally when the area is clear, but crouch whenever you hear footsteps approaching.

Search Every Room for Keys and Tools

Escaping requires more than finding one key. The main door and alternative routes contain several barriers, each connected to a specific tool or puzzle item.

Search drawers, shelves, tables, bedrooms, hidden spaces, and locked rooms. Some objects are easy to recognize, while others have purposes that only become clear after further exploration.

Useful items include:

• Padlock Key: Opens a lock attached to the main exit.
• Hammer: Removes wooden boards blocking doors or passages.
• Wire Cutters: Disable wires, alarms, or electrical systems.
• Gears: Activate a mechanical escape component.
• Weapon: Temporarily stuns Granny and creates time to move.
• Watermelon: Connected to a special puzzle and may contain something useful.
• Old Book: Unlocks or activates one of the house’s hidden secrets.

You can only manage a limited number of objects at once, so remember where you leave important tools. Randomly dropping everything in the same area creates noise and makes later searches more confusing.

Granny is not the only threat inside the house. Bear traps can immobilize you at the worst possible moment, giving the pursuer enough time to reach your position.

If you become trapped, hold the correct button until your character breaks free. Listen for footsteps while doing this; you may need to hide immediately afterward.

The house may also contain dangerous pets or secondary threats that guard specific objects and locations. Watch their movement before approaching and avoid assuming an apparently empty room is safe.

Every hazard is designed to slow your progress and create noise. Move carefully whenever you enter an unfamiliar section of the house.

The primary pursuer is removed, allowing you to explore the house and study its puzzles. Other environmental dangers may still remain.

Easy

Granny moves more slowly, giving new players additional time to hide or change direction.

Normal

The standard experience balances exploration, puzzle solving, and enemy pressure.

Hard

Granny moves faster and an additional lock is added to the main exit.

Extreme

The pursuer moves faster than the player, while two extra locks make the final escape significantly more difficult.
