Game Introduction
Bad Parenting, officially titled Bad Parenting 1: Mr. Red Face, is a short psychological horror game created by 2oo2 Studio. You experience its unsettling story through Ron, a young boy whose family is connected to the frightening legend of Mr. Red Face.
The game uses first-person exploration, retro PSX-style graphics, dim household environments, and disturbing sound design to build tension. There is little emphasis on combat; the horror comes primarily from uncovering what happened inside Ron’s home.
Bad Parenting became widely discussed because its supernatural imagery is tied to serious themes involving childhood trauma, domestic abuse, neglect, and harmful family relationships. Its short runtime allows the story to move quickly while leaving enough ambiguity for players to discuss its symbols and ending.
Play Bad Parenting online on Lalo.games, then explore more psychological horror, mystery, adventure, and story-driven games—but approach this experience with care due to its mature subject matter.
Content Warning: Bad Parenting contains depictions or implications of domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, death, disturbing imagery, and psychological trauma. It is intended for mature audiences and may be distressing for some players.
What Is Bad Parenting?
Bad Parenting 1: Mr. Red Face is a short, story-rich horror adventure developed and published by Vietnamese creator 2oo2 Studio. The original Windows version was released in August 2024, followed by a Steam edition in October 2024.
The story introduces Mr. Red Face, a fictional figure adults describe to children. According to the tale, he visits well-behaved children at night and brings them gifts. Ron gradually discovers that the truth behind this figure is far more disturbing.
Rather than relying entirely on monsters or repeated jump scares, the game builds discomfort through its household setting, family conversations, unsettling characters, environmental clues, and symbolic imagery.
The original game is a first-person walking and exploration experience—not a traditional point-and-click adventure. It also follows a primarily linear narrative rather than offering numerous dialogue branches or multiple endings.
How to Play Bad Parenting
Control Ron and explore each available environment from a first-person perspective. Follow the story’s instructions, inspect unusual areas, and interact with important objects to advance.
Use WASD to move and the mouse to look around. When you approach an interactive item, use E or the left mouse button. Some scenes allow you to sprint with Left Shift.
Pay attention to dialogue, objects, character positions, and changes in the environment. Much of the story’s meaning is communicated through details that may initially seem unimportant.
Bad Parenting is designed as a short narrative experience, so there are no complicated inventory systems, combat classes, or extensive skill trees. Progress comes from exploration and completing the required interactions in the correct order.
Characters and Story Elements
Ron
Ron is the young protagonist through whose perspective the player experiences the story. His understanding of the household is shaped by what the adults around him say and do.
Mr. Red Face
Mr. Red Face is presented as a fictional character adults use when speaking to children about good behavior. His appearance and meaning become increasingly disturbing as Ron uncovers the truth.
Ron’s Mother
Ron’s mother is central to the household story. Her conversations, behavior, and relationship with the other characters reveal important context about Ron’s situation.
Ron’s Father
Ron’s father plays a major role in the family conflict. Explaining his actions in detail would reveal the game’s central twist, so first-time players should experience them without spoilers.
The Doll
A doll-like figure appears during the supernatural sections and helps guide Ron through parts of the experience. Its presence connects the ordinary household with the game’s darker world.

Story Progression and Gameplay
Bad Parenting does not use conventional numbered levels. Its story advances through connected scenes in Ron’s home and increasingly surreal environments.
Early sections establish the family, the legend of Mr. Red Face, and Ron’s understanding of what is happening around him. Later scenes reveal additional context through exploration, dialogue, objects, and symbolic horror.
The game’s transitions intentionally blur the distinction between a child’s interpretation and the painful reality surrounding him. Players must connect visual clues with the family’s actions to understand the full meaning.
The story has a defined narrative conclusion. Competitor claims about extensive dialogue choices, branching paths, and multiple endings are not supported by the official game description.
Tips and Strategies
Explore each room before rushing toward the next objective. Small visual details often help explain the story.
Listen carefully to dialogue because the meaning of earlier conversations may change after later revelations.
If an interaction does not work, move closer and aim directly at the relevant object before pressing E or the left mouse button.
Use sprint only when needed. Moving slowly makes it easier to notice environmental changes and reduces the chance of missing narrative details.
Adjust mouse sensitivity with the number keys if the camera feels too fast or too slow.
For the strongest first experience, complete the story before searching for an ending explanation. Most online discussions contain major spoilers.

Tips and Tricks
Pro Tip
Pay attention to repeated colors, character positions, household objects, and changes in dialogue. These details help explain the symbolism without requiring an external walkthrough.
Common Mistake
Do not assume this is a choice-driven game with several endings. Waiting for nonexistent dialogue options can distract from its linear environmental storytelling.
Strategy Tip
Complete the entire story in one session if possible. The official runtime is approximately 20 minutes, and keeping the scenes fresh makes the narrative easier to interpret.
Developer Insight
From the Lalo.games editorial team: Bad Parenting is effective because it uses supernatural horror to express a threat that is painfully human. Mr. Red Face is memorable not simply as a monster, but because understanding what he represents changes how the player interprets every earlier scene.
